Bubba Free John THE WAY THAT I TEACH - Talks on the Intuition of Eternal Life Prologue The Esoteric Realization of Eternal Life by Bubba Free John
There is an esoteric or "hidden" dimension at the basis of all the verbal and written Teaching published in my name. It is not capable of vulgar transmission. It is inherently obvious only in the case of actual and perfect Realization and literal Transformation or Transfiguration of the whole body-being of the individual. Therefore, it is obvious only in the case of individuals who respond to the argument of the Spiritual Master and go on to change their ways of life and adaptation in his Company. Only such individuals are submitted to the cultural process of human adaptation in the company of other devotees, and only such individuals are turned in their feeling and attention to the Person, Condition, and Radiant Transcendental Influence of the Spiritual Master. And that is the key to the whole affair. Such Company is the unique advantage of human beings. It is the Process whereby the esoteric Awakening that is the foundation of this Teaching may be literally Realized. That having been said, the unique disposition of this esoteric Realization may also be told in simple. There is no necessity to any pattern of experience, high or low, within or without. It is all passing whether subtle or gross. Likewise, the body, energies, person, mind, and relations of the apparent individual are equally unnecessary and passing. The Truth and Happiness we may Realize is not specifically contained and defined by any form of experience within the individual or in his relations. And Realization itself is not an attainment of the individual, but it involves perfect intuitive liberation from the act of holding on to any condition whatsoever, including oneself. The Truth we may Realize is not objective to us nor interior to us. The "me" is passing and unnecessary, as are all conditions found in relationship to "me." And the Truth is not any "negative" wisdom, founded in this acknowledgment of the ephemeral nature of all conditions, including oneself. Rather, the Truth is Realized as the very Condition of present conditions and all conditions. The Truth is not an idea we may assert, but a Condition into which we must be sacrificed via radical transcendental intuition. The Nature of this Condition may be described in some important ways. Above all, it is Realized that oneself and all arising conditions, subjective and objective, are only present modifications of unqualified, eternal, prior Radiance, which, paradoxically, is not changed by any of these changes, and whose own foundation is Divine Ignorance, or Consciousness prior to all knowledge, all content, all limitation. The mature and perfect devotee Realizes this Condition to be his own Condition and that of all other apparent beings, conditions, things, and patterns. He Realizes this moment to moment, even as his own conventional apparency and all kinds of experiences persist. And that Radiance, coincident with perfect Ignorance, is unqualified Bliss. It is Love, Joy, Freedom, and Brightness. It is the foundation, the creative principle of life, not an independent goal to be sought, through self-manipulation, as a solution to the conceived dilemma of desperate life. This Realization or Discovery is
the entire Truth, and it cannot be believed. It is not a
logical principle but the Paradox of life. It is the great
creative Realization of man and the key to his responsible,
creative, and free destiny. Therefore, it requires a great
deal of anyone who considers it-even more than mere
self-possessed philosophizing and psychism, and certainly
more than the fast weekend of devotion to hype and the daily
twenty minutes of self-help that most people are willing to
grant this great affair. Between your present subhuman
adaptation and the Great Process of this Realization lie all
of the tendencies of your past adaptation, founded in
self-possessed fear and urges toward independent fulfillment
and survival. And before that Realization will be true of
you, you must not only readapt in the true human and mutual
culture of devotees. You must submit to the primal obstacle
confronted by the illusion of self. It is the necessity of
Grace, the Transforming and Transfiguring Power of Radiance
and Love, the Company of the Spiritual Master in Truth. The
self is at war even with its own Help. Therefore, you will
Realize this Truth only when you yield and become a
sacrifice, through love, in all relations, and so also in
the relationship to Grace-which is not within, nor even
independently identical to any objective person, but which
is given to us in the Paradox of the relationship to the
Spiritual Master, which devours us like a wilderness fire.
