Love
of the Armed Form The
Place Where Sadhana
Begins

- You may want to forestall this
observation..." Transcend
Meaning
- "Some people have a better experience than others
in the universe of meanings in childhood, and they
tend to be more effective adultsnot
Enlightened, but more effective and happy in the
ordinary sense." The
Heart is the Hole in the
Donut -
1976
- How did I
get involved in this
anyway...". "I
do not call men or women to my form, for I am not
present as any form or power. There is no name or
light that is my form or the way to me. Hard
Earth and Stone at my Foot "I
resist and take flight from the material and life
condition. The crux of the spiritual life for me
now is to see and embrace this mode of reality. The
material realm is relentless in its
lawfulness. Tightness
and Doubt
- 1969 - Water and Narcissus What
is its Essence?
- 1974 Talk - Bubba Free John (Adi Da
Samraj) "We're talking
about the realization that would be true if we
would only commune with you. No doubt you've said
it a thousand times before." The
Urgency of the
Teaching
From Scientific Proof of the Existence of God Will
Soon Be Announced by the White House! Intelligent
people cannot find God in such a mass of idiocy, so
quite naturally they look for satisfaction
elsewhere. "You must find
the ways to overcome the stresses, to transform the
chemistry of the body literally, so that you can
live long and without stress, both chemical and
social, or cultural." The
Urge for Sanctuary
- 1979 "To create a
human sanctuary for higher adaptation of the human
species is a primal human urge. We inherently
desire a human and natural environment in which we
can live without the chronic production of stress
chemistry." Are
There More Fish in the Ocean on a Sunny Day, or on
a Cloudy Day? "The realm of
possibility is infinite. There are endless
conceivable and inconceivable realms of experience
or embodiment that you could be involved in at the
present time. But you are consciously involved only
in this human one. You are involved in this human
embodiment because you have desires" "Life is
suffering, and then there is God" - "That is one
way of putting it, in your humble one-liner
fashion." To
take a drug does not yield any great capacity for
recognition. Neither does conventional meditation
or the shocks of life. Everybody
thinks that God is taking care of
everything Everybody thinks
that God is taking care of everything. There is no
such God. God Transcends everything. God is to be
Realized. God is not your parent." The
first truly human or humanizing stage of
development is for us to... "The actual or Realized
Truth is not itself an answer to the emotional
dilemma of our existence" The
best thing to do is to be
uncomfortable... "You cannot avoid
that discomfort. It is essential to your
conditional life. You must find it, locate it, and
really use it." "Human awakening
is the product of a inherent biological urge. This
process of awkening is inherent in the
psycho-biological structures of every human
being." "Do you like the
experience you have, your experience altogether?
Are you just coping?" "the popular
media thrive on hype, propagandized states of
emotion and mind, and nondiscriminating responses
to every kind of advertised goods, persuasions, and
results." Confusion
of Mind and the Brain "if we put
ourselves into a position to explore the roots of
experiencing, we are going to enter into a realm of
mind in which we realize mind to be greater than
mere daily thinking and social
consciousness" Awakening
and Lesser Stages of Life "It is not that
only those who are in the seventh stage are
enlightened." Sacrifice
Means to Make Sacred "There are two
ways of life. There is one lived by the law of
karma, or change itself, in confrontation with the
solid world, the appearing world; or there is the
way of living from the point of view of Truth or
the actual, the real condition." Fundamental
Discipline of Love is to... "Fundamental to
the discipline of love is letting go. You are
practicing attachment and using it as an excuse to
immunize yourself. The discipline of love requires
letting people go. I do not mean letting them
disappear." Realization
if NOT about Union "Realization is
not about someone realizing union with someone, or
with anything. If there is any effort along those
lines, it has nothing to do with Realization. It is
precisely this effort that must be understood and
transcended." I
am not here to fight with you... "You should also
understand that I am not here to fight with you for
any cause whatsoever. Whatever you choose, you are
completely free to choose, and that is all there is
to that." Get
Serious About Your Suffering ""You must get
serious about your own suffering and the suffering
of all other beings, and about the stupidity of all
movements on Earth, whatever they are called -
political, economic, religious. There is no siddhi
in them, no blessing, no unique capability invested
in the world." Popular
Meditation and Spirituality "What is
popularized, hyped, and commonly believed to be
religion, spirituality, or meditation is invariably
a form of self-meditation, self-glorification, and
self-survival. " How
Should Your Create Your Life GOD IS NOT A
GENTLEMAN AND I AM THAT ONE Love Is
Sufficient Wisdom "You can practice
Communion only by transcending fear, by actual,
literal, heartfelt surrender beyond all fear of
death and madness into the Transcendental
Reality." "True sincerity
is a quality that is naturally alive in a person
who understands himself." "Spiritual
cultures arising in this country have some feeling
for a fuller life. They represent a sympathy with
an aspect of the body-being that Western life has
tended to exclude...the subjective or emotional
aspect of the being" Doubt is a very
interesting mental activity. It can be helpful when
judging a situation that may seem dubious but when
it's chronic and pervasive it can be
damaging. "When those who
have lost faith in the exalted begin to suspect
that things are not as they seem, they always
assume that things must be worse than they seem,
not better." Old
Patterns and New Responsibilities "Your present
situation is only a reflection of patterns repeated
from incidences of the past, frozen moments in
time, repeating themselves over and over again.
" The
Setting Sun - The Great Western Sun "This is the
late-time, the dark epoch, East and West. This is
the long-prophesied time of the setting sun, the
Western sun. This is the time of the decline of the
mind and the culture of the rising sun, the Eastern
sun." What
makes Adi Da's teaching unique? "One central idea
of Adi Da's teaching will stand out that will make
his teaching completely unique. This idea is not
that there is Only God, or He is The God-Man, the
one idea that makes his teaching unique the
'self-contraction'." The Way of the Heart's 22 basic
points. "THAT...scares me. I don't want
to go into that..the paranoia, discomfort something
may be wrong...the fear of ultimate confusion and
despair. That fear is a constant threat to
us." "Work out the matter of
forgiveness and love expression with them. By doing
this you purify yourself and all your present and
relations, and you purify your parents as
well." The
Failure of Adaptation and Function
Life "The roots of
human failure to adapt and master functional life
are in the childhood of men and women." The
First Truly Humanizing Stage of
Development "The first truly human or
humanizing stage of development is to transcend our
dissociative emotional reaction to the inherent
limitations of the body-mind and its
experiences." Be
Relieved of Your Seriousness "We are under the incredibly
absurd illusion that there is an objective world
"outside" Consciousness and there is a 'me' inside
this body" Understanding
and Our Primary Activity "There two aspects appearing
side by side in the Knee of Listening; the yogic or
phenomenal aspects, and the teaching relative to
understanding." "You must find out that even the
whole, even the 'I' as the body is
self-contraction. That's the first step. That's the
great discovery." "In the Heart there is no
adventure and no world, no one who thinks or acts,
but there is only understanding. It is no place, no
affect, no reflection, no exclusive force. It is
perfect, unqualified existence, conscousness and
bliss" Offenses,
Resistance and Outrage ""Most everyone will reach their
cutoff point, the point where they will tend to
stop, the point where practice tends to be
sufficient for them or where further effort is too
frustrating and too offensive. " "As maturity
develops over time, a positive equanimity begins to
characterize the body-mind." "Seeds are dormant possibilities
of life and action. In the life of a practitioner
seeds are possibilities or potentials inherent in
various disciplines. Without disciplines there are
no possibilities" The
Future of Spiritual Practice "Sadhana or spiritual practice
begins in that place where you make this knot, the
self contraction, this fundamental
discomfort." "The spiritual Way depends first
of all on establishing the receptive and descended
personality as a functional vehicle of the Living
Reality. This is the principle of the first three
stages of life." "Something in us wishes to
remain a child, to be unconscious or, at most,
conscious only of the ego; to reject everything
strange, or else subject it to our will; to
What
the World Wants and Does Not Want "In general, what the "world"
wants - and, therefore, what "religious"
institutions tend to provide - is social
association and optimistic talk" Silence
- "The best "term" of reference to Reality is
perhaps silence, no-thought, no-indication, or
no-action. Until
You Realize - There is
seemingly a 'paradox" or a 'contraction' to the
Dharma in trying to understand it. Nobody
Has Ever Turned to the
Guru - It is not so much
that you turn to the Guru. The Guru turns to you.
By the time you realize that you have turned, you
have become nothing. Locating
the Source - To
understand what Adi Da means when he uses the word
'locate' in conjunction with the references to
Himself and/or Reality there can be said to be a
'process' in it's fuller comprehension Consumer
Mentality - There is no
cheap super-truth or clever
method for everyman. What
is Satsang? - There is a
common understanding that spending time in the
company of a Guru is Satsang, something like going
to church. Truth,
Romance and
Delusion
- The true Spiritual process is not a kind process
with which and to whom you can indulge in a
romance! Identifying
with Consciousness
Transcendence
- What does transcendence (n) or transcend (v)
mean? Does transcendence or transcend mean to go
beyond the limits of, to triumph, overcome or be
prior to or be beyond and above
something? Dealing
with Existence as it Truly
Is - You do have to do
this sadhana in the context of your
ordinariness Still
Arguing? - he ego-"I" is
always seeking and arguing - because it is
inherently dissociated from Reality Itself, Truth
Itself, and Real God. Individuation
as Politics - So the
politics of individuation is, apart from some of
its merits one might presume, basically the
politics of egoity. And it glorifies egoity.
Establishing
Firm Intimacy - If you
are ever going to establish a firm intimacy with
anyone, you must deal with all these emotions and
become emotionally clarified. Whatever
you have not transcended you must fufill, that is
the law. - There is only
one Truth, but there are two ways to realize
it. The
Primary Sensation _
In every moment when you
are motivated to seek, the root of the motivation
is a sensation. That root-sensation is the
self-contraction. Where
is Everybody Going? -
The first great crisis of human existence is the
observation of the tentative minimal, and always
temporary association between life and
Happiness. Slick
and Clever Mind
- Bits and Pieces What
is Consciousness? - This
is the basic question posed in The Knee of
Listening. Aurobindo
